Youth. The small unassuming seed.
Time and circumstance prepares.
Choices water, growth to bear,
Working, training, wear and tear.
Roots grow deep in joy, in sorrow,
No guarantee today, tomorrow.
God only knows what inside waits,
What’s cultivated, potential, fate?
What is born in time producing,
If good fruit its beauty loosing.
Unrecognized by majority,
Yet true, content, felicity.
Wisdom rare and beautiful,
The flower is providence, not the rule.
It is said we are not born knowing what we can do.
We do not know….but God does. He goes before us in all things, He establishes our steps, He brings the increase.
Psalm 127:1-2 “If the Lord does not build a house, then those who build it work in vain. If the Lord does not guard a city, then the watchman stands guard in vain.” (New English Translation)
Proverbs 16:9 “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
When we trust God to provide, to work, and to save, we will have peace.
The time and effort you spend sitting with your Father is never wasted. His seed inside of you is always working, growing and producing a host of good fruit -streams of living water.
In that secret meeting place with God time seems to stand still. Fears work their way out and unexplainable joy takes residence. We find life, in our Maker. We are touched by God’s great love, and the sacrifice of His Son. We believe Him, trust Him, and put our faith in Him.
If you are tempted to find your identity elsewhere, whether that is in the specific gifts you bring to the table, or any other work you do, the blessings and stations you have been given, or the the things you are passionate about, remember; HE IS EVERYTHING! He makes us who we are, He is our joy and our portion. Our specific ministries are nothing without Him, our talents, our relationships, our passions….nothing can hold a candle to Him. Those things we often hold dear are only as beneficial to us as they are driven and defined by the Lord, Himself.
Psalms 16:5-11
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
All glory, to God alone.
